Policy Additions:

HRM-013: Available Leave Types for University Staff Employees. This policy is intended to be a tool for University Staff Employees to introduce and summarize all of the leave types available. It provides an entry point that logically organizes the leave options and eligibility criteria so that employees can access the information they need in specific situations more easily.
Policy Updates:

HRM-013.01: Paid Leave for University Staff Employees. Clarified leave availability and cashing-out unused leave.
(Formerly HRM-031.) -
HRM-013.02: Paid Parental Leave for University Staff. Revised to include provisions for pregnancy loss/still birth and to simplify eligibility criteria which were previously tied to the Family Medical Leave Act.
(Formerly HRM-049.) -
HRM-017: Temporary Reduction in Workforce for University Staff Employees. Updated to include a definition of Agency Management as used in Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Human Resources Management Policy 1.65.

HRM-020: Probationary Period for University Staff Employees. Updated to indicate that when a probationary period will be extended, the employee will be given written notice at least 30 days before the end of the initial probationary period. Removed language that implied the probationary period was a benefit to the employee.

HRM-037: Evaluating Employee Fitness for Duty. Added a representative of the ADA team as a potential member of the Coordinating Team that conducts employee evaluations.

HRM-043: Addressing Grievances for Administrative and Professional Non-Tenure-Track Faculty. Revised Section 1 for consistency with HRM-009: Preventing and Addressing Discrimination and Harassment and the update to the Protected Characteristics.

SEC-045: COVID-19 Health & Safety Requirements – Vaccination, Testing, Face Masks, Events and Gatherings, and Visitors. Revised Section 1 Faculty and Staff such that the final vaccination dose must be received by January 4, 2022. [Note: After Jan. 4, anyone who is not in compliance, either by being vaccinated or receiving a University-approved exemption, will be subject to disciplinary action consistent with the University’s policies, up to and including unpaid leave or termination.]
